Events & Programmes
Introduction
Welcome to Women in Distress Organization’s (WIDO) vibrant Events and Programmes page, where we highlight our impactful initiatives dedicated to empowering women, eradicating gender-based violence, and promoting social change. Through various programs and events, we strive to create a more just and equitable society. Explore the diverse range of activities that contribute to the holistic upliftment of women and the advancement of their rights.

Capacity Building & Advocacy
Our Capacity Building and Advocacy Program focuses on empowering individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary for meaningful change. Through training, research, and advocacy, we address key themes such as Women’s Human Rights, Leadership Development, Economic Empowerment, and Social Development. The Monitoring and Advocacy Unit actively engages in monitoring state responsibility on human rights, advocating for policy changes to foster positive societal action.

Anti-Violence Program
WIDO's anti-violence program is a proactive response to violence against women and children. Through integrated services, survivor support, and community outreach, this program aims to raise awareness and provide assistance to those affected by violence. The community awareness project is a vital component that contributes to changing societal attitudes and behaviors.

Access And Participation
Our access and participation programmes address fundamental issues affecting women's access to basic services. These programs include information and capacity building on essential aspects such as shelter, health, land, and food production. Special forums involving policymakers and legislators are organized to create awareness and advocate for women's rights in these areas.

WIDO Cooperative
Recognizing the challenges women face in accessing land, WIDO cooperative is a strategic initiative to support women's access to land through collective ownership. This cooperative model promotes economic empowerment and self-sufficiency, ensuring that women have the means to fully exploit their resources.

WIDO's Shelter 'UKWU Oji'
WIDO's shelter, 'UKWU OJI,' stands as a beacon of hope for survivors of gender-based violence. Offering therapeutic approaches, including therapy and counseling, the shelter addresses not only the physical and emotional needs of survivors but also challenges societal structures that perpetuate abuse
